The Rainbow Bar & Grill located on the iconic Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California is not only a must-see destination in LA, it’s a rock and roll icon. This isn’t just a restaurant and bar, it’s a slice of LA history wrapped up in one building, where music legends were made and partied. Since its opening in 1972, The Rainbow has been a regular hangout for the Los Angeles rock music scene and locals alike, attracting musicians, artists, and fans from around the globe.
A Historic Place for Rock Legends
Located at 9015 Sunset Blvd, The Rainbow Bar & Grill quickly became a favorite meeting place for rock and heavy metal royalty. The list of our famous guests is a who’s who of music history, including Led Zeppelin, Mötley Crüe, Guns and Roses, and The Who. It was also a second home for rock stars like John Lennon, Keith Moon, and Alice Cooper. Most famously, it was the last place Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister was seen before his passing in 2015. A life-size statue of the legendary rock star still sits in a corner of “Lemmy’s Lounge”, our outside bar area. Stop in to get your own picture of one of the most photographed attractions in all of West Hollywood.
The dining room’s interior is a museum of rock memorabilia. The walls are covered with photographs, album covers, and artwork that tell the story of the past celebrities that called The Rainbow home. The atmosphere is a exciting, energetic rock club, making it a must-see for anyone who wants to see an authentic snapshot of LA history.
